DESCRIPTION
Designed to sustain the environment and those who made it, our Short Amber Rim Tumbler is hand blown by skilled artisans in the small village of Cantel, Guatemala. Each glass is handmade by crushing and melting down recycled glass. The molten fragments are then hand blown into a beautiful drinking glass inspired by the love for gathering with loved ones and the lively conversations that accompany a delicious meal.
Every piece is handcrafted by the artisans of The Recycled Glass Cooperative of Cantel, COPAVIC, which was formed in 1976 when seventeen of them came together to reopen a former glass factory in Cantel. Not only does the cooperative work to protect and renew their environment by working with recycled glass, they also revitalize their community with living wages, health insurance, and honed skills that continue to serve the artisans well beyond COPAVIC’s kiln-lined walls.
